Emily, the Blabbermouth

Emily will not stop talking. As soon as she wakes up in the morning she is chatting away in her crib and it persists all day long! The other day, Jon and I woke up to a ceaseless Emily. "I get up, please. Please up. I awake. Up, please. I up" over and over and over again - always polite but continual - until I got out of bed and went into her room. As soon as she saw me, I got the morning play-by-play of all the things in her crib. "My puppy, Mama. Here teddy. My passa (Emily's word for pacifier). Ciffor (Clifford) book. I like. Read, Mommy. Here puppy. My blanket. Jammies." Several minutes went by like this before I could even get a word in. As soon as the monologue was over, I asked, "Would you like to get up, Emily?"
She immediately smiled, reaching up. As I picked her up, she started into the next topics of the day. "Where Ethan? Ethan sleep - shhhhh. I want breakfas (no "t" on the end). Go downstairs, Mama. Ethan in room? E-E (what she used to call Ethan all the time) downstairs? Where E-E? I breakfas. Where Dada? Dada asleep - shhhhh."
"Yes, Daddy's still asleep so we need to be quiet, please."
"Daddy asleep - shhhhh. Shhhhh. Dada room. E-E room. Where Ethan?"
"Ethan's already downstairs, honey."
"Ethan downstairs. Me go too. I breakfas. E-E? E-E? Are you (where is usually omitted)? Where are you, Ethan? Mama, up. Downstairs. I want breakfas."
By now, Emily has only been awake a few minutes and my ears are already tired. This is now a constant state - talking, talking, talking - in the car, on a walk, at the dinner table, before falling asleep - all the time. This little babbling voice follows me everywhere I go. Of course, it can get annoying to never have a moment of silence, but mostly it makes me laugh. My baby is growing up and is so excited to see the world that she simply can't shut up! But I guess if I had never remembered seeing the ocean, going to a parade or flying on an airplane, I'd be pretty excited too, and I'm sure I'd probably want to talk about it all the time.
