Morning Light

Today was my experiment with daylight savings. With the time change and the weatherman forecasting temperatures in the 70s (and it is the beginning of November!), I was looking forward to actually getting in a morning run. Since the end of summer it has been too dark to even attempt it, and I missed it. I am not really a morning person but there is something about greeting the day with a run that makes the rest of the day that much better. So today when I woke up early and saw the sun trying to peek through our bedroom window, I thought, "Yes! It will be light enough out to run this morning." I hopped out of bed, quickly and quietly got dressed. As I opened the front door, I was greeted by a balmy 55 degrees and had to debate whether or not to wear a jacket - a very unusual thought for 6:30 am any day in November! Walking down the street I couldn't help but smile as I was again greeted by the morning activity I had missed. Birds were chirping, squirrels scurried up trees, rabbits hurried out of the way, and the stillness hummed as the sun began warming the day. I turned down the alley, taking off on my run, feeling right with the world.
