Getaway

As a surprise for our anniversary, Jon planned a getaway last weekend. I had no idea where we were going or what we were doing. All I knew was to pack certain items, including non-black soled shoes, and that we were leaving at 8 am Saturday morning. My curiosity was peaked and I couldn't help but giggle with excitement.
When Saturday rolled around, we dropped the kids off at Jon's sister's for the weekend and drove away. Ahhhhhhh, simply being kid-free is such a treat. We drove through random towns, past malls and many Amish farms, on the way to our destination, which the road signs eventually gave away. We were headed toward Maryland.
Out of farm land appeared a quaint little town, North East, Maryland. Main Street was lined with restaurants and boutiques, but we continued through town to the marinas, and to my surprise, we eventually stopped at one. Jon pulled into the parking lot announcing, "This is it." I was still a little puzzled but began piecing things together. Next to the marina was the bed-n-breakfast where we'd be staying and we were scheduled to go sailing upon arrival. We quickly dropped our things off and head for the boat. After being greeted by Captain Bob (He and his wife, Pam, run the B&B too.) and his assistant, we boarded the boat, along with one other couple celebrating the man's birthday. Jon and I positioned ourselved toward the front of the boat and enjoyed one of the most relaxing afternoons I can recall. We simply sat and watched the world go by. We were even served a delicious lunch as we lazily took in the rays.
After a few hours out on the boat, we headed back to the marina. Jon and I then decided to poke around town. We did a little window shopping followed by margaritas and clams. After returning to the B&B, we took a swim, sat by the water and then got ready for our night out on the town. We eventually ended up at this great restaurant, where we ate and drank too much. Crab, tuna, calamari, creme brulee. Yummmmm. What a luxury.
Unfortunately it stormed badly Sunday morning so we headed home, but it was the perfect getaway.
