Kiddos waking up in the morning.
This past weekend we braved the elements and took the kids camping despite the rain. Jon and I (mostly Jon) spent all Thursday evening preparing for our departure. After seeing all that we planned on bringing, you would have thought we were leaving our house for a month not just the weekend. So much for simply grabbing a tent and backpack and heading out the door. Ahhh, those were simpler days. But when Friday rolled in with thunderstorms, must to Ethan's dismay, we decided to hold off and leave Saturday morning instead. Good choice. As we arrived at the campsite, the sun broke through the fog and Saturday ended up being just gorgeous, even though it rained that evening. The kids enjoyed digging for slugs, running around after their new friend Maddie, were covered in mud and did extremely well sleeping in the tent. It was a fun weekend hanging out with friends, meeting new ones and simply getting away. I think it made me (and Jon) realize that we can now do things like this with our kids and we'll all survive, even in a downpour.

Camping and hammocks are so much fun!
