Since we didn't leave the house yesterday (my kids never even changed out of their pajamas!), I decided we needed to get out of the house today. Really this was mostly because I needed (and still need!) to distance myself from all the cookies and candy lurking on our kitchen counter. Therefore, we braved the elements, the soggy, soaking, dreary downpour, and headed toward Hershey. Given the traffic and road conditions, it probably wasn't the best choice, but I needed indoor fun for all. We ended up going to Indian Echo Caverns and Chocolate World. Two fun attractions the kids love. After exploring the caves and riding the Hershey's tour car, we were in need of some refreshments. The kids voted for ice cream. I figured, "Why not, it's the holidays!?!?" We ordered two cones. Notice I said two. Showing extreme willpower, I didn't order one for myself. As my kids sat in the Chocolate World food court eating the ice cream I so graciously bought for them, I asked Em if I could have a lick of hers. She looked at me like she thought I was crazy. Of course, I assumed it was because she was being greedy and didn't want to share, which was true, but when she explained why, her response surprised me. According to her, I couldn't have any ice cream because I always just bring them places to have fun and am not supposed to have fun myself. Eating ice cream would count as having fun; therefore, I couldn't have any. This made me wonder if I don't have enough fun or if the places I take them are just so much fun. Still not sure about that, but I was able to finally convince her to share with me, and when we got home, I had a piece of chocolate to make up for skipping the ice cream.
