NYE
Last night was New Year's Eve, and it was the first time we told our kids they could stay up as late as they wanted for the event. We had a great dinner, played some games, ate ice cream sundaes, nestled in and watched movies. They kids were ecstatic to stay up past their bedtime. E even kept checking the clock and reporting the time, indicating how long they had stayed up past 8 pm (which is the usual bedtime) not how close midnight was approaching. Having been up late New Year's Eve Eve, I drifted asleep on the couch around 11 pm, but the kids were still awake. Finally, I told them the TV needed to be turned off, so they could try to go to sleep. I assume within minutes both of them fell asleep in the big 'nest' we had made on the living room floor. They missed the stroke of midnight, but I think it was a special way for them to ring in the new year. Too bad they didn't sleep in, so 2012 started much too early today!
