Everyone around here knew it was going to snow today, but I really wasn't expecting a snow day. The snow has been lightly and consistently falling, but after living here, you come to understand school will be delayed or canceled with the first flakes. This morning I was already at the gym, finished with my workout and heading for the locker room when another morning regular at the Y told me that school was closed. I was shocked and had to rush over to the TV to verify it for myself. Seeing the confirmation on the screen, I couldn't help by smile and breath a sign of relief. I took my packed bag back home to find my kids cuddling together in E's bed.
Instead of school, our day has been filled with:
Sponge Bob waffles (a little food coloring, whipped cream, cherry eyes and a bacon mouth)
Snow pants, snow coats, snow gloves
Snow angels among volcanic islands
Hot chocolate with marshmallows and more whipped cream
Mac-n-cheese
A princess and a race car driver
A few tears
Cookie dough
Reading
A nap (for me!)
Sledding and snowball fights with the neighbors
Hearty soup and garlic bread
Now I am just wondering how it got to be night time already and if we'll have school tomorrow. Bring on the snow!
