Cousins

Right now there are four cousins playing happily in our house. The boys are in the other room watching the football game. The girls are upstairs dressing up. Besides providing them with food, I haven't had to pay any attention to them all day. Earlier I asked them if anyone wanted to do anything today, but no one was interested. They just want to play, and play they are. Since our kids are totally occupied, Jon has been able to work on his remodel of his office; I've reorganized my closet while doing the laundry, been for a run and to the grocery store. Not only am I thankful for someone else to entertain my children, but I am especially thankful that my children will grow up having instant playmates in their cousins. When we were little, I remember how special it was to have my cousins over to play. We always had such a great time together. We imagined, ran, danced, sang and always ended up performing a skit for our parents.
Ok, as I write this, I hear the girls screaming because one of the boys is now chasing them around. Maybe the contentment of today is over. At least it lasted for a little while.
