This last week of school has been crazy:
I said goodbye to many of the good friends and colleagues I had this semester.
A mouse wreaked havoc in the planning center eating any and everything, all while leaving his evidence behind.
I witnessed a teacher at her breaking point, yelling at the top of her lungs at a student.
Final exams were piled a mountain high on my desk and the surrounding floor.
I cried at the faculty meeting saying goodbye to our English Department chair.
There were many celebrations of lunch and cake.
Many smiles stretched ear-to-ear as some of my students heard their final grades.
But then a young girl was on the brink of tears thinking about the money it would cost for her to attend summer school in order to make up the credit she failed to earn in my and several other classes.
I played hacky-sack with a group of students at the end of class.
Badminton rackets swung and flung around the hallways in preparation for today's tournament.
I had to hand a failure notice to one of my favorite students - yes, I know you aren't supposed to have favorites, but he is so smart and always interested in class, and yes, ironically he failed my class.
And it all just makes me realize that teaching is more than curriculum and standards, which is a lot of responsibility.
I am so looking forward to the ease of summer.
