Ethan Turns Five

We had quite a week - a great week - celebrating Ethan's fifth birthday. Monday night, the day before his birthday, Ethan was so excited he told his birthday was "the day I have been waiting for FOREVER!" On Tuesday, Ethan's actual birthday, we hosted play group at our house and enjoyed a great morning playing outside. We had lunch on the patio followed by "dirt" cupcakes loaded with gummy worms and bug bite graham crackers. Yum, yum, yum. Then Tuesday evening, we headed over to Gram and Papa's house for pizza dinner (at Ethan's request), more cake, and presents. As he was opening his gifts, I swear he seemed like he was turning 10 instead of 5! How do they grow up so fast!?!?! On Thursday, my sister Melissa came to visit with her two kids to add to the party atmosphere. We ended our week with a wonderful weekend. On Saturday we held Ethan's birthday party up at the cabin. We hiked, swam, grilled out, ate, sat around the fire, ate some more, swam some more, and then crashed on the way home. It was so much fun to simply hang out with all our friends and Ethan loved every moment. A great week for a great kid. But I still can't believe I am the mother of a five year old!
