More Birthdays and Barf

Yesterday was my actual birthday and it turned out to be such a nice day, especially thanks to Jon. When I came downstairs in the morning, our large "Happy 30th Birthday!" sign greeted me. Usually we edit the sign accordingly but Jon just said I'd always be turning 30! :) In the kitchen a Panera bagel and some coffee were waiting for me. Even though no one at school knew it was my birthday, there was already a preplanned lunch buffet in the planning center so I was surrounded by yummy food and treats all day. I purposefully left all my work at school as I just wanted to come home to play with the kids. It was an absolutely gorgeous day - over 60 degrees! I think this is the first year I can remember that there hasn't been a big blizzard on my birthday. We all had such a great time simply being outside. Jon had already planned dinner and was busily cooking.
That evening Jon's parents came over to celebrate. Jon's lasagna was so delicious - one of my favorite meals - but as we were eating Emily kept complaining, whining and crying. She was ruining dinner for everyone so I eventually held her on my lap and tried to get her to eat something. She decided she wanted to sit on the potty but when she did nothing came out. She started crying again, asking to go to bed. I picked her up and started upstairs. We hadn't even made it up a few stairs when she started making this weird swallowing sound, over and over again. Then I knew. Barf was coming. As I bolted upstairs, Emily covered me and herself with puke. Ugh. I tried to make it to the bathroom but ended up simply catching some of it with my hand while the rest splattered all over us and the carpet. Just what I wanted for my birthday!
Eventually we cleaned Emily up and she calmed down. We plopped her in front of Seasame Street and she was happy. Then the rest of the party proceeded. The Leos also came over. It is Kim's birthday too. We opened presents, had cake, drank wine, talked, played, laughed. A nice birthday despite the barf.
