Turning 5
Turning five is a big deal. In little kid world, it's old. You are no longer a toddler and will be headed to "real" school soon. In parent world, it makes me feel old. How is my baby already five years old? It seems like time is going by so much faster now that I truly want it to slow down. But I wouldn't want to take away all that my baby girl has become. I am so proud of her. She is truly a special and remarkable kid. She is kind and caring, silly and goofy, happy and cheerful, focused and interested. Within the last few weeks, she has turned a corner in her development and it is incredible to watch. She has become fascinated with letters, words, spelling and stories. As a teacher and a mother, it's amazing to me, because I can see she is right on the verge of figuring it all out. And that comes with turning 5. Soon she will be able to read and write and spell all on her own. And that is a big deal. It's remarkable.
